Bundesliga: Can any team win against Leverkusen?

The Bundesliga is kicking off on Friday.

Why it’s worth watching: For the first time in more than a decade, Bayern München’s team doesn’t start as defending champion. Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen didn’t just end that winning streak, they also managed to go through an entire league season without defeat. No other team had ever accomplished that in Germany’s top tier. Can they do it once again?

Three things you should know:

• Both Bayern München and Borussia Dortmund start the season with new managers. Vincent Kompany and Nuri Sahin are trying to lead their teams back to glory.

• Holstein Kiel is the 58th team to play in the Bundesliga after finishing in second place of Bundesliga 2 last season.

• The other newly promoted team is St. Pauli. They won Bundesliga 2 to return to the top flight after 13 years, but they’ll start the season with a new manager. Fabian Hürzeler joined Brighton to become the Premier League’s youngest-ever permanent manager.

By the numbers: Out of the 18 teams, Bayern München has the highest market value at €947 million. Newly promoted Holstein Kiel has the lowest market value at €32 million. (Source: www.transfermarkt.com)

Matteo Ruggeri (Atalanta): 100 points against US Lecce

Atalanta got off to a great start in Serie A, winning 4-0 at Lecce. Matteo Ruggeri provided the standout performance from a Sorare perspective. Due to his assist for the second goal of the game, he finished with a perfect score for everybody who had him in the line-up.

This week features a review of the Premier League's first round of games and a discussion about whether we have enough classic utility & midweek utility.

🗓️ Competition schedule

• Game week 4 (27-30 August): It’s a global competition for the midweek games – but your players are not allowed to go over the cap of 270 points.

• Game week 5 (30 August-3 September): Two special competitions will be held. One will only include players from the Belgian league with cash prizes up for grabs, the other one is called "Top Tackler Special". All players can be in your line-up, but note that tackles and interceptions will be awarded extra points.

• Game week 6 (3-6 September): The old Specialist competition is back: Only two players in your line-up are allowed to have a Last 15 score of 60 points or more, at least two players have to start with a Last 15 score of 45 or below.

• Game week 7 (6-10 September): The Fighting Special (based on a community vote). Fouls and yellow cards are actually awarded, but be aware that red cards will still be a negative.
